From our Early Chinese Collection, a fine and large Ming Dynasty lead-glazed pottery ridge (roof) tile, 15th-16th century, Hongzhi through Jiajing Period (1488-1566), depicting a guardian-demon ferociously modeled with bulging eyes, protruding fangs, pointed horns, thick musculature, and standing in defensive posture astride a cloud-swirl with fists clenched around what would have been a weapon made of wood or iron, now since rotted away and lost to time...

From our Early Chinese Collection, a large Machang Phase jar from the Majiayao Culture (2300 - 2000 BC), originating from what is now Gansu province, China. Of well-known and documented form, this fascinating vessel is approximately 4,000 years old and comes with an Oxford TL test. Larger and better potted than is usually found, it is painted with anthropomorphic designs in purplish-black mineral pigments typical of these wares...

A Famille Rose model of a bearded Immortal, wearing a long tabbed hat and long robes tied at the waist, the robe painted with writhing green dragons among cloud scrolls above foaming waves, holding a Yu-i sceptre in his left hand, standing straight on a raised rectangular base. Nicely crafted in details with a smile on his face.

A Famille Rose Dish. Decorated to the centre with swallows in flight above a pheasant perched in a flowering tree and watching a beetle. The rim with birds among floral sprays. Chinese Mid 19thC.Diameter 6 1/8" (15.5 cm). Condition; short hairline in rim 1.5 cm.

A Famille Rose Plate. Decorated in bright enamels with a cockerel below peony. Qianlong C1740. Diameter: 8 7/8″ (22.6 cm). Condition: three tiny shallow flakes to underside of rim

A nice plate with four windows of famille rose design and with underglaze blue floral ground, base unglazed. Qing Dynasty 18th century in good condition, except minor fritting around mouth rim area. No crack, no chip and free from restoration. Wide: 29,5 cm.

From our Chinese Polychrome Collection, a good famille rose barber's bowl, Yongzheng Period (1723-1735), nicely executed in floral sprig pattern using lively and well-preserved famille rose enamels in rose, blue, aubergine, yellow, green, orange, and opaque white. Dressed on the rim edge with Batavia Brown / iron oxide finish typical for the period...

A Sancai glaze of the double Duck Water Dropper. Very good condition with no any chip, no any crack, except possibly have small area re-painted of green glaze. Ming Dynasty Swatow type. Long; 20 cm and Height: 12 cm.

Description:

A thin, white-glazed dish was decorated on the surface with vibrant motifs of a galloping horse among flowers and weeds.
By the rice-white glaze, it was revealed with the light grayish-tinted body clay on the rim.
With characteristic shape, the tear-dropping glaze, the dated and exact design of the motifs, and the obvious incursions(which in sore's-like condition under magnify glass) happened to the glaze, the dish can be fully verified its authentication...

Description: A black-glazed water dropper was from famous Ding kiln.
Characteristically the body clay revealed was in dense and greasy feel quality.
It was kept in perfect condition when some incursion was found on the surface.

Date: Song Dynasty, 12th century.

Description: A black-glazed, narrowed-neck bottle vase was squeezed and applied on shoulder with four small looped handles.
Well applied on the surface with dark glaze which was in greasy feel and was yielded with immensely spread crackles due to age, it was sat on a flat bottom from which the grayish white-tinted body clay was revealed.

Date: Southern Dynasty南朝, 5th-6th century.
