A pair of silk applique roundels for a robe, lavishly embroidered in satin stitch, tiny Peking knot and couched gold wrapped thread. One showing two boys at play, the other one depicting the immortal He Xiangu with attendant in a boat amidst flowers and auspicious symbols. Condition: slightly stained, the one with the boys has traces of former humidity, especially from behind. Dimension: 23.5 cm diameter.

Up for sale is an uncut antique Chinese silk brocade weaving with green ground; the yardage was made for a Han Chinese's wrapped skirt during the Qing dynasty, it was woven with different scenaries, mountains, pagodas, bridges, etc. with polychrome silk floss and gold thread; excellent condition, no wear, a label with name of the silk manufacturer is woven on the bottom. Classic long sleeved silk brocade cheongsam aka qipao. This is all hand tailored and hand sewn, definitely not off the rack. Beautiful floral pattern (lotus, chrysanthemum, and pomegranate blossoms) with foliate scrolls, this pattern can be traced back to Ming Dynasty blue and white porcelain. Fine old Yao embroidery with Chinese characters, from the Kin Mun Lantien subgroup Yunnan/Vietnam. This piece is in excellent condition with no damage, but the indigo has “bled” and is circa early 20th century. It is made from all handspun cotton with an intense indigo dye. Fine old, three paneled, supplementary weft embroidered wedding blanket from the Zhuang ethnic group Guizhou Province China. Handspun and handwoven cotton thread foundation and silk for the embroidery. The central area is dominated by the “well” “#” pattern, while the border is a combination of the “well” pattern inside a “wanzi” swastika meander. There are few small faded areas but no holes or tears. W: 104cm/40in and L: 140cm/56in.

The body is woven from very fine handmade cotton thread while the weft supplementary embroidery is done with silk floss threads (the small blue indigo medallions are done with cotton).
