Antique Chinese large bitong or brush pot carved of one piece of huanghuali wood and inlaid with a scene of birds on a blossoming branch and a poem. Inlaid materials include bone, stone, lacquer and shell. The poem translates as: "Birds flying in a line, the tree is blooming, the blooming flower is falling to the ground, the spring mountain, one group of birds fly over the valley, sound makes a lonely sound"...

The inscription reads: Painted around late spring of 1918 following the style of Wen Hengshan. Signed: Longcheng Jushi, Huang Shanshou. Seal also reads the artist's name. A small porcelain iron red overglaze water coup decorated with dragons set among scrolling clouds. The iron red style was developed in the Ming dynasty and in the Qing various styles were expanded. Additionally, with the continuity of the literati tradition, various objects were being produced and one was the water coup which is essential in producing ink for calligraphy. The water coup contains an inscription reading Da qing xiangfeng nian xin. (1851-1861). Size: height 2.25" diameter 2.8"

Used antique Chinese inkstone with a carving of a peach at its most shallow point. Peaches are said to be heavenly fruit that promote longevity. Titled and signed at the upper left Qi Liangmo, the 7th son of Qi Baishi, in black ink and with two red seals reading “Qi Liangmo” and “Baishi’s 7th son.” 20th century. 27” x 13 1/2.” Unframed. A refined Chinese framed landscape painting showing a view during the evening. The tradition began during the Song Dynasty with literati landscapes. In the succeeding centuries, different artists produced these landscapes echoing poems by Li Bai or Guqin tunes. The landscape painting was done by an artist named, Tzuyue. The marble painted with scenes of Chinese saints in a garden. Size: 34 x 34 cm. Very good condition with expected age wear.

The base is made up of several small wooden parts finely cut with flowers, scrolls and Greek motifs. The majority of the wood is dark brown, almost black, small inserted panels are made of boxwood, the barriers are made of bone. These barriers were tinted green, a color today almost completely erased by light and time, however more pronounced shades of green remain in the most sheltered places. This barrier is carved with plum blossoms, bamboo stems and pine needles...

Lavishly inlaid with engraved mother of pearl. Dimensions: 30,5 x 18 x 11 cm. Exceptional good condition with almost all the inlay still intact, only some minor pieces missing. The wood has some age cracks and one of the long sides is a bit crooked. The brass corner pieces are all original.
