There is piece of "stingray skin" wrapped around the middle. There is one turquoise stone decorating the sheath with two red (resin) stones that originally were red coral.The blade is made of steel. Condition: the cover is missing and there is a small hole in the base; there is copper oxidation inside the tail and there are traces of the original black lacquer coating between its scales and in some of the recesses. / 6 inches high; 15 cm / 6 inches across. It is raised on three tall supports each decorated with a stylised mask and a flange. Late Ming Dynasty, 16th - 17th century. H : 25,9 cm. There is an old inventory Number to the base of the body. Ex Christie´s London.
