Very rare lacquered original Han ear cup with a surface decorated in red and black lacquer in scrolling patterns and abstract motifs painted on the ears. Size: L. 20cm. W. 15.5cm. H. 6cm. Condition: No repairs. the outside bottom of the cup is missing. See last photos. It is interesting to see that the cup is hollow inside and not one solid piece.

Decorated with alternating layers of black and red cinnabar lacquer deeply carved to create intricate designs, the box has a beautiful sheen to the surface so that the layers of lacquer simply pop! A charming antique Chinese basket with basket weave bottom. The inside of the basket is lacquered in red over black, while the rim and exterior are black lacquered with gilt lacquer banding and motifs of butterflies, fruits, and flowers. The basket has a lovely patina and wear consistent with age.

Rare lacquered bronze fibula inlaid with yellow metal nails which seems to be gold because it does not oxidize. The construction of this jewel is special, in fact the bronze base was cast and then pierced with thousands of holes in which tiny nails were fixed, welded or perhaps simply forced in. A delicate antique Chinese Tea Box with exquisitely decorated gilt relief. It has a pewter box lining with a glass knob. The lacquer shows images of a pavillion setting with trees and a border of flowers. The pewter box has a primitive etching of scholars with rocks and grasses. The box is presented on a carved wood stand having several coats of cinnabar lacquer, giving it the appearance of a solid carved cinnabar stand.
