Chinese Gilt hairpin set with real jade and oriental pearl, from Qing Dynasty

Very rare antique Sino-Thai solid silver mesh belt with magnificent repousse peony or chrysanthemum flower and flora motif on the buckle and side pieces. Made by a skilled local (Bangkok) Chinese silversmith dating to ca. 1850. Exquisite hand made workmanship and stamped/hallmarked with chinese characters on the inside of the buckle. This type of elegant silver belt was worn by Thai nobility or wealthy ladies in the 19th Century. Practically impossible to find nowadays...

The woven coils, simulating the dragons’ bodies, and the gap between the horned heads allow the bracelet to be “sized” to any wrist. Enigmatic and eclectic collection of 35 small repousse auspicious good luck tokens).These were collected in Dali, Yunnan, China in the late 1980s. No two are exactly alike and and are they seem to are classic Tantric Buddhism symbols such as endless knot, parasol, lotus throne, and temple banner motifs are represented in this lot as well as more traditional Chinese symbols such as bats and butterflies. These came from Yuxi Xingmeng, the last ethnic Mongolian village in Yunnan...

The front of the pendant is decorated with 3 figures in a garden, one holding a fan and one holding a parasol. The text on the back of these pendants is usually about protection and good fortune for the wearer. Dimensions: 7 x 5,5 cm, length of the chain 53 cm. Weight 68 gr. There are holes on 3 sides of the pendant. There is a hallmark on the top side. Provenance: Dutch private collection. The acid test shows a silver content of ca. 90 %.

Worked in filigree silver and enamel, set with jade, tourmaline, garnet cabochons and a pearl. The reverse with a secure pin back assembly and a "silver" mark. Chinese Silver Smiling Boy, Ca. 1900, 10 1/2" high overall, 2 1/2" high x 1" wide, 5/8" deep for boy, with open mouth smiling and pig tail hair do, holding Peach with two(2) hands, both side same raised design with Silver chain, and two(2) Bells dangling with chain from his feet. Lovely carved nephrite pendant with classic “cat on a leaf” motif. This piece has been re-carved to appear as the cat is sitting on a peapod (peapods being one of the myriad of Chinese symbols wishing one to have many children), but was really done to hide the damage on the sides of a larger leaf. Through the 1800's These ornaments were made and formed with heavy paper (light weight cardboard...) A very attractive short necklace dating from the early to mid 20th Century. In very good condition and a nice example of ethnographic Chinese tribal jewelry. Old nephrite chord fastener, this shape and style are usually associated with horse tack and bridles. This archaic style has been found in the Tang and Liao periods. L: 2.7cm/1.1in, W: 2.1cm/o.8in and 1cm/0.4in thick. 12 grams.

The groups of Yao minority live in in both China and Thailand. This necklace is of low grade silver which was typical of the Chinese jewelry around the late 1800's and early 1900's. The necklace is light weight and comfortable to wear.
