DESCRIPTION: A lovely Chinese bamboo-framed cabinet having painted scenes of bamboo and birds on a yellow ground. The rectangular top is mounted over a door that opens to an interior cabinet with three shelves. A delightful piece for the bedroom or country/cottage interior, 20th C. Antique Japanese 2-section isho tansu (clothing chest), made all of kiri (paulownia) wood. The top section has two large full width drawers. The bottom section has one large full width drawer and one medium drawer. The lower right hand side has a safe box with heavy iron work on the hinged door. Inside are two small drawers. The front of the chest has beautiful heavy iron hardware including warabite shaped drawer pulls...

Two Chinese carved openwork hardwood boxes; the rectangular forms each with hinged covers: one with scene of deer, the other with qilin, each framed with openwork foliate border; and each with three covered compartments to interior; with iron lockplates and wire handles; L: 14 1/8" (each approx.)

A set of four vary rare blackwood Hungmu lady's side chairs. The chairs match as a pair except for the back panels. Two have a square and two have a circle. This most likely had some meaning for the owner. Age: Mid Qing. Size: H:94cm. W:48cm. Condition: No repairs. Some looseness from age. can be fixed very easily.

Rosewood ("hongmu") of rectangular shape, its sides decorated with openwork carving representing classical geometric designs. China, 19th century. Length: 34 cm. Width: 16 cm. Height: 6.7 cm. Very good condition. NOTE: the table still bears the seal of the Chinese Cultural Relics and Antiques Department.

Antique Chinese bench, made of Hongmu and other mixed woods. Inset with marble headrests. The underside is carved with motifs of scrolling lingzhi mushrooms, and its sides are carved with scrolling key frets. Very heavy. With bamboo mat seat cover.

A very rare pair of ironwood chairs also know as Tieli mu. Ironwood has been used with huanghuali items since the Ming Dynasty. In all the years that I have been collecting Chinese furniture, this is the only pair of ironwood chairs I have come across. Ironwood is usually been confused with jichimu. I find it just as desirable. Size: H. 112cm. W. 60cm. Depth. 45cm Age: Mid Qing.Condition: No repairs.

Chinese Qing dynasty hardwood wardrobe cabinet with two large doors and a lower apron carved with a flying bat motif. A round round brass lock plate is at the center. The doors and center bar are removable. Supporting wood beams in the interior can hold removable shelves. The cabinet was previously used as an armoire and has been modified to hold a hanging bar. 19th century. 70" high x 49 1/4" wide x 20 3/4" deep...

An unusual three sided mirror vanity case with butterfly hardware. The front mirror slides up into the case to get at the two drawers. Size: W. 29.5 x 2.5cm. H. 16cm. Condition: No repairs.

Antique Chinese hardwood altar table, with attractive natural woodgrain with dark finish. Simplistic design of scrolling feet and side bracing between each leg. Early 20th century, circa 1930s.

Chinese hardwood altar table, made of solid elm wood with its original red lacquer finish. Carved with dramatic scrolling legs on elevated feet. Five panel carvings in front depict various scenes with auspicious elements, dragon carvings in archaic style, the underside with scalloped edges. The altar style edges curl upwards in a scrolling fashion, with reticulated carvings of dragons below either side.

Antique Chinese pair of tall hardwood stands, carved to look like they are comprised of stalks of bamboo. The tops show their natural woodgrain beautifully through the dark finish. The underside panels and connecting unit between its legs are designed like reticulated bamboo.

A very rare round tea stand made of huanghuali with an insert burl wood top by a round stretcher and the splay legs ended in "Lin Zi" head feet. Age: Early 19th century.

A very rare Chinese veneer huanghuali cabinet with the original marble inserts. The back of the cabinet still has the original fiber coating that was used during the Ming and early Ching Dynasties. This cabinet was most likely made during the transitional period from Ming to Ching. Age: Early 18th Century Size: H.189cm W. 126cm D. 63cm Condition: All original. The drawers are probably a replacement. Normal wear.
