Republic or a little later, black and red lacquered “Dou” offering stem bowl (usually fruit) for an ancestral altar table, with gilt garden and scholar’s theme. This from Guangdong and made for a Chaozhou family, aka Teo Chew, aka Chiu Chow. W: 21cm/8.2in and H: 13cm/5.1 in. There is some warpage, noted in enlargements but if just turn it the right way you won’t notice.

Nice old Tibetan or Baotou saddle carpet, with floral medallions and scroll pattern. There are some repairs and restorations which I have highlighted in enlargement two. Early 20th century, the colors are still vibrant with some abrash but none of the garish aniline dyes used later in the 50s and 60s. L: 120cm/47.2in ad W: 60cm/23.6in.

Charming Cizhou style ceramic pillow as a cat, circa late Qing to Republic period in perfect condtion! Great expression- captures the way a cat can gaze so intently at something while appearing calm- as if it is about to pounce on an unsuspecting prey. Large Chinese basket, tall stacking carrying basket, made of bamboo with iron handle, three compartments, outfitted with removable glass top so that it may be used as an end table or stand, the basket has a large character on the top and woven patterns on all sides, the tiered basket sits in a large bamboo frame with handle, Republic Period. Size: 37" high total (30 1/4" high to top of stand) x 18 1/2" wide x 18 1/2" deep.

Pair of Chinese plaques, made of wood and inlaid with different hardstones with scenes of birds in blossoming branches and bamboo, black lacquer ground, Republic Period. Size of each: 47" high x 27 1/2" wide x 2" deep.

Wooden trunk carved with dragons in clouds. The lid has a carving of a dragon in a round medallion. The trunk is bordered with a carving of dragons climbing through clouds. It measures 41" wide 24" deep 17.5" tall.

A Chinese hardwood container/ box formed in the shape of a fan. The base is fitted with distinct Chinese geometric scrolling motifs often seen in Chinese wood carvings and architecture. Antique Chinese Hardwood oblong shaped box carved from a single piece of wood. The lid and the base fit together snuggly. The lid has a carved recess on the interior. The base has a carved recess on the exterior. It measures 5.25"wide 8.5" long 2" tall.

A sculpted Chinese hardwood box with auspicious motifs decorated on the lid of the box. The lid contains motifs of butterflies and a central medallion with peonies and a stylized form of the Chinese character for longevity. Age: 20th century. Size: height 3" width 6.75" length 10.75"

An antique Chinese lamp stand often seen in the homes or temples of traditional Chinese buildings. This type of stand with the scrolling clouds and motif of bats found on the central axis of the stand might be seen in Daoist temple settings. Age: 19th-20th century Size: Diameter 20" Height 57.5"

Antique Chinese burl treasure/jewelry box with brass hardware, a lid that secures shut with a brass lock, and two front swinging doors opening to four drawers of varying size with fish shaped brass pulls. The front frame surrounding the drawers is a hardwood with dark red finish. Size: 12" height, 12.25" width, 9" depth

An antique Chinese scholar's stand made of natural gnarled twisted hardwood roots with a transparent russet lacquer. This type of natural root furniture goes back to the 12th century aesthetic. Here is an example of the round stand produced during the Republic Period, bearing the colonial form true to the Victorian Era.

An example of Taiwan country furniture, this Chinese antique wood trunk sits on a custom-made stand and is finely decorated in panels of black ink painted flowers. It was purchased in Peitou, Taiwan in 1987. It was refinished at that time and the custom stand was made for it. The dealer in Taiwan dated the trunk to circa 1920 and described the wood as machilus. When the lid is opened, the interior is very fragrant. On the stand, the trunk measures 15” high x 25” long x 17” deep...

Intriguing gold and black lacquered depiction of an Taoist immortal brewing the elixir of immortality in a gourd-(possibly Japanese). Condition: some lacquer losses, please examine enlargements. L: 35cm/13.8in x W: 17.5cm/6.9in.

Beautifully carved houngmu wood stand. It measures 7" by 1.5" with a 4.5" opening. Late 19th, early 20th century.

Antique Chinese low rectangular table made of carved lacquer in the tixi technique and decorated with guri "sword-pommel pattern". The lacquer is applied in multiple thin coats of alternating black and red then carved down to reveal the layers. The underside of the table is carved with a four character mark.
