An early 20th Century Zisha ("purple clay") teapot with famille rose enamelled decoration depicting the "Three Friends of Winter" - prunus (plumb) blossom, pine tree and bamboo - and also a single bat. This item was made in Yixing, Zhejiang province, China during the Republic period (1911-1949). The maker's or shop seal mark inside the cover reads "Rong Ji"; the elaborate seal mark on the base reads "Fu Kang Ying Kou". Ying Kou is a town in Liao Ning province, north east China...

Ducai flared vase made of porcelain, Chien Lung mark, Ching Dynasty, late Republic Period, 20th century. Decorated with scrolling vines and flowers with fans, medallions, and other items throughout. There are two geometrical registers that decorate the base and middle registers. It measures 6.25" at the mouth, 5"6/8" at base, 13.25" tall.

Finely potted porcelain bowl, painted in pale famille rose enamels with fruiting and flowering gourd vines. The outside decorated with four "dragon and phoenix" medallions on a yellow ground. Base with iron red six character "Guangxu" mark. Condition: foot rim with an over glazed tiny chip (see photo no. 3), some wear to gilding. Dimension: Diameter: 13.8 cm, 5.9 cm high.

A genuine Guangxu Da Ya Zhai Porcelain Turquoise Bowl (1875-1908) with period markings and a lobed rim. Size: H. 3.5" x 8" top diameter and 3" bottom diameter. Condition: Has a hairline and the rim is broken in one spot which has been glued and a small hole which needs filling (see photographs). Needs a specialist to restore the bowl expertly. While the book is somewhat lacking in that most of the photos are black and white and not in color, the book is still very important as an encyclopedic guide to all the myriad of shapes and forms within the Rose Medallion genre...

An excellent pictorial reference book covering the Koger Collection which features Chinese wares spanning the Neolithic Period through the Qing Dynasty. There are about 155 color photos with editorial by John Ayers. The photos here are really quite excellent. In our candid opinion, it's not enough of a reason to purchase an antique merely for the sake of a free book, but any client already seriously contemplating a purchase can enjoy this as a free extra...

An excellent pictorial reference specializing in blanc de chine (dehua) and a must-have book for anybody collecting within this field. The text by Robert Blumenthal is very good as well. We personally find that blanc de chine is probably the biggest area of fraud, abuse, and mistake by unscrupulous and /or unknowledgeable dealers, and as such it is probably the main area where novice collectors get burnt the most...
