Fine Rare Chinese Yuan Dynasty Burnished Black Pottery Bottle / Vase
This very rare and attractive pottery vase, or bottle, of "yuhuchun" (pear-shaped) form is finely-potted and has a highly polished surface, very smooth to the touch. It has a flared mouth and stands on a fairly sturdy flared foot. In places on the surface there is a silvery-blueish "metallic" sheen, a result of long burial. Simply exquisite ! SOLD A beautifully modeled white ware spouted ewer complete with original top. Elegant and intact, this piece measures 9-1/2" in height, with the top in place. The color is difficult to capture accurately, as there is the faintest hint of pale celadon color in the glaze. No repairs or restoration, no flaking of the glaze. A beautiful example of this early ware.

sold This piece was made at the kiln in Henan pottery area. It is very popular to be called as "Henan tenmoku" which has black glaze with patterns of rusty glaze. The pattern tends to peel off because of overglaze, however this piece has patten clearly remained.
