Large Chinese Ming Dynasty Blue & White Porcelain Dish

This blue & white "Swatow" (or "Zhangzhou") porcelain dish was made during the Wanli Reign (1573 - 1620) of the Ming Dynasty. Its height is actually greater than many similar-sized Swatow dishes so perhaps it is better to call it a shallow bowl. It is coated in a thick glaze and decorated in underglaze blue...

A MING SWATOW (ca. 1625) Chinese Blue & White Porcelain Plate with thick, shiny glaze, depicting a Phoenix in the center medallion surrounded by a border featuring auspicious symbols. The back side of the plate also has some decor. There are a few firing imperfections (unglazed well/spots) as shown in the photograph and some kiln sand/grit deposit on the back base of the plate, which is common in Ming ware and a sign of authenticity. Very good condition, no cracks, hairlines nor restorations...

Decorated with a dragon hunting the flaming pearl. Made in two segments with a horizontal seam. Excellent condition with slight age wear and scratches to the glaze. H. 7 cm , diameter 8 cm.

Chinese late Qing dynasty Guangxu period famille rose porcelain bowl, covered on the exterior in a dense mille fleurs pattern set against a gold background. The base holds an apocryphal six-character iron red “Great Qing Qianlong Year Made” mark. Late 19th century. 4 7/8” diameter x 2 1/4” high. Very good overall condition with no chips or cracks. There is some wear to the overglaze gilt background. This bowl is from a Tucson, Arizona collection.

This item was made in south China during the reign of the Jiaqing Emperor (1796-1820). Condition: there has been much damage and old professional restoration. 23.5cm (9.25inches) high.
