Chinese Qing dynasty Guangxu period famille rose porcelain seated Budai holding a string of pearls in his right hand and his bag in his left hand. Nicely carved custom wood stand in the form of a settee. 5” high (6” high including the stand). Circa 1900. Very good overall condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. There is a minor imperfection to the stand. From an old Scottsdale, Arizona collection.

Bold pierced iron hardware decorating each drawer corner with kakute (square) handles and locks. Stunning original deep red finish complimenting the natural burl woodgrain. Excellent hardware and unusual design. Edo Period (circa 1840's).

A Chinese jade oval bowl carved in the Mughal style with lobes forming the body , the base with three concentric zones showing leaves and encircling a central flower. The body is thinly carved , the stone is of mottled pale celadon tone. A competently executed example, it measures 2 cm wide, in excellent condition, no breaks no restoration and dating to late Qing period.

SOLD Antique Japanese Buddhist Pilgrim's coat. Buddhist monks associated with the teachings of Kukai (or Kobo Daishi) would embark on a pilgrimage to visit the 88 temples on the island of Shikoku. Upon arriving to each temple, the monk would bathe before giving offerings and reciting prayers as well as receive a stamp distinctive to each temple. He is wearing his traditional hat that has been hand painted with great detail. One of the Lucky Gods, Diakoku is the God of Good Fortune as well as a god of the kitchen.
