Lovely and profound set of large three nested wooden box pasted with paper with such aesthetic design of withered coloring reminded of ‘Obangsaek’ (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Obangsaek). Early-Mid 20th century, Korea. More powerful appearance when piled up. Some expected damage due to aging as seen, but still solid make as is.

A fine Japanese porcelain plate, the centre painted with a pair of Ho-o birds perched on rocks amongst flowers. There are several versions of this design featuring different borders. This border is unusual, it features three Ming-style elephant headed dragons and a profusion of blooms. The back has a particularly delicate depiction of trailing blooms and an inner border of clouds. The mark is associated with the Old Kakiemon kiln, 1680’s.

A rare Japanese Sometsuke Mukozuke dish, the design of a partially folded fan taken directly from Chinese porcelain made especially for export to Japan during the late Ming Dynasty, Tianqi Period, 1621-1627.
