A Chinese silver tankard, applied onlaid with a continuous decoration of a phoenix, birds of paradise and storks amongst flowering trees, chrysanthemums and prunus. Slightly distorted cylinder shaped (tsuzu) tea bowl with straight walls, made of light, coarse, unrefined Mino clay. The expertly thrown body was trimmed with a potter's knife around the foot ring.

A pair of powerful Shishi guardian carvings dating from the later Edo period, 18th-19th century, in the Ah-Un expression (Exhaling and inhaling). Ah-Un has many allusions, it is the beginning and end of the alphabet, summarizing all in between, and is said to be inhaling good fortune, and exhaling bad. Glass eyes inset into very human faces. A small carved bamboo wood Boy on Buffalo. This rare object was made in China in the Ming dynasty, probably during the 16th or early 17th Century.

Chinese unglazed pottery jar with impressed, cross-hatch decoration, four lug handles and flat base. 5 1/4” high x 6 3/4” diameter. Warring States period (475-221 B.C.) or possibly earlier. Pair of Japanese damascene candlesticks, the body of each with dramatic imagery of serpentine dragons and fireballs. The foliate petal rims decorated with chrysanthemums and coiling vines, and the tripod feet with auspicious objects and flowers. Both candlesticks are signed "Kuma" in gilt pigment on the base.

Chinese monochrome purple peking glass cup and saucer. The glass has a deep purple tone. Both the cup and dish have flared rims and a round, recessed foot.

Antique Japanese small tansu chest made all of kiri (paulownia) wood. The chest is configured with seven drawers of various sizes: 3 small drawers above 2 medium drawers above 2 large drawers. Black iron hardware includes 7 round lock plates, circular corner bracing and square drawer pulls.

A rare and complete group of an ox and carriage in grey pottery with remains of polychrome. China, Tang Dynasty (618-907). The result of the thermoluminescence test by Kotalla is consistent with the dating of this lot. The report is included in the sale. Dimensions: the carriage H. 32 cm, L. 23 cm, the ox H. 18 cm, L. 23 cm. Condition: very good, no visible repairs, although repairs on early pottery are quite common and accepted. A rare black glazed Song wine jar with two handles and a spout for pouring. These containers were used for offering a sweet rice wine. You will sometimes find remnants of the wine in the bottom of the jar that has solidified. Size: H: 27.3cm. Condition: No repairs. In it's original condition.

A Sikh Perso-Indian mughal koftgari dagger, decorated with damascene silver handle and sheath with the head of a leopard. The blade is curved and inlaid with silver medallion filigree.
