A small cast iron Japanese tetsubin of slightly flared cylindrical form, decorated in relief to one side with maple leaves floating on a stream against a textured ground. The backside is plain save for the textured ground and the foundry mark for Kinshudo. The cover is flat with a pine cone finial and the handle can be moved to either side. In excellent condition, it measures 2.5 inches high excluding the handle, diameter about 3" at widest. Dates late 19th Century.

Japanese half section Mizuya (kitchen buffet tansu) with four Keyaki burl front panels opening to a wide, narrow open space along the top of the chest. Below this are two large openwork sliding door panels of geometric design, with a small door to the left opened by a hidden Persimmon wood latch. Rare woman’s skirt (pukhang) from the Kachin/Jingpo ethnic group, Northeast Burma. This is two panels with supplementary weft trim on the ends made of dog hair. Mostly natural dye and indigo.
