A set of 7 fluted plates decorated with various plants symbolic to Japanese culture and motifs often seen in Japanese porcelains known as Imari ware. The plates contain an inscription, kigyoukuhoutei no chin, that often is associated with a specific type of Imari ware known as Daiseiji Imari ware. The motifs, designs, and at times the inscriptions take inspiration from Chinese Qing dynasty porcelain wares. Age: 19th century. Size: height 1.25" diameter 8"

Beautiful Chinese antique porcelain bowl, with golden rim, made during the reign of Emperor Daoguang (1821-1850). Painted along its sides are beautiful young Chinese girls performing leisurely tasks, such as painting scrolls and reading, wearing bright and colorful robes in shades of pink, blue, purple, and green, and surrounded by potted flowers. Mark on bottom reads "Da Qing Daoguang Nian Zhi" or "Qing Dynasty Daoguang period make". Size: 7" wide, 3.5" tall

The worn lacquer is a testament to its display and use that extended beyond its useful life and paid tribute to the former artisans that supported the craft. The original removable base was made with a concave divot to allow ease of rotation of the mold when in use. Knife cuts and natural cracks from wear show how the mold was used.

A pair of hanging scrolls by Kano Dohaku Chikanobu (1772-1821), a famous Edo period painter, 5th head of the Surugadai branch of the Kano School.
