Antique solitary Awara-yaki chawan by great artist Kuze Tensei 久世天声 (1878 - 1933) around 1915 (Meiji Period).

He studied art under Yamada Kei while working as a teacher at Ishikawa Technical Senior High School. In 1914, he moved to Awara Onsen in Fukui Prefecture (a classic hot spring town) where he set up a studio and kiln and created Awara-yaki using clay from the area to produce Kyo-ware style ceramics, which often won prizes in exhibitions.

Unusual porcelain bowl in the shape of a double gourd with two separate compartments. The large section is for washing brushes; the small section may be used as a brush holder.
The outside of the large bowl is decorated in underglaze blue with pavilions in a landscape with mountains and a river. The edge is faceted and painted with cloud-like shapes. The outside of the smaller extension is decorated with stylized flowers. Ribbed knob on top (19-petaled chrysanthemum).

Large Song Celadon bowl, olive green in color. In very good condition without chips or cracks. There is an incised flower pattern in the bottom of the bowl. Otherwise, small fritting /granulation is evident in the bottom of the bowl and a couple of these may have been compromised/worn down. Nice overall symmetrical shape and crackle in the glaze is quite faint. Diameter: 7 plus inches and 3 inches in height.

Song Dynasty green crackled Celadon bowl with a nice shape. There are certain imperfections which mostly appear to be occurrences at time of firing. On the inside of bowl, there is a pock mark / rupture that appears to have occurred at some point when perhaps a stone in the clay was compromised and broken out through the glaze. Song Dynasty Green Glaze jarlet with two ears...in very good condition without cracks or chips, some wear in terms of scratches...small points of imperfection in glaze at time of firing. Floral pattern around top portion of jarlet and scrolling pattern around lower portion at the base. Diameter: 2 and half inches, height 2 inches.
