SOLD Japanese hand drum used with Kabuki, Noh and Minyo. The hourglass shaped wood body with Makie gold on black lacquer decoration of Ho-o No Tori (phoenix). Capped on either end by stretched hide with black lacquer detailing on the outward facing stretched surfaces and rims and with gold lacquer on the inward facing surfaces - the two hide ends held taught over the cupped ends off the wooden body with orange cord. The measurements: 8 2/3" x 8 1/4" x 3 2/3"H Beautiful and original Japanese suzuribako lacquer decorated with flowers and foliage on a nashi-ji gradient lacquer. The interior is in black lacquer with a water cup and ink stone.

$1,500.00 A large heavy okimono of a striding elephant. The bronze elephant has a finely chased hide and it's original ivory tusks. The elephant measures about 19" long x 19" high, and weighs about 23.8 pounds.
There is a maker's mark cut out on the belly of the beast which reads "Watanambe Made", and the patina overall is even and perfect. The elephant was made during the Meiji period, ie: late 19th Century, and the condition is perfect. The asking price includes shipping within the USA.

SOLD A large Japanese framed print by renown artist Mayumi Oda, born 1941. Mayumi is most well known for her depictions of male Buddhist deities presented as women. This silkscreen print is titled "Daikoku", normally a male, the god of good luck and fortune. The title, number 22/40, and Mayumi's signature are done in pencil along the bottom margin. The print itself is tastefully framed behind special UV blocking glass. Circa 1984.

SOLD A masterful rendering of an unusually large rooster posturing in full stance. The metals used are copper, silver, and gold. The major body of the cockerel is called shibuichi which is meticulously composed of silver and copper mixture. The feathers are beautifully sculpted and chased in details. The movement of the feathers pronounce the figurative composition. Its tail feather is patinated and infused into the silver.
