This piece is styled "uzukumaru" pot, it means "squat", Uzukumaru pot is originally made for storing seeds. Since tea masters like as Rikyu used them for vase in the tea room, it has been called "uzukumaru" and loved by them for tea goods. An amazing, complex landscape covered in glossy copper glaze by Tsukamoto Haruhiko enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Oribe Kaki (Oribe Flower Receptacle). This is very similar in design to the piece submitted to the 35th Asahi Ceramic Art Exhibition in 1997, the year after he took Grand Prize there. Beautiful half cylinder shaped (hanzutsu) tea bowl from the early stage of the Edo Period (1603 - 1868) with a rounded brim, made of iron bearing, coarse, unrefined Narumi Mino clay. The expertly thrown body was trimmed with a potter's knife in its lower part.

Our Kutsu / gutsu gata ( shoe shaped ) tea bowl is made of iron bearing Karatsu clay.

Its fastly but expertly thrown body is glazed inside and outside, with the exception of the bottom including the roughly cut foot ring with an ash glaze which has some Feldspat mixed in glaze. A rare bronze (copper & tin alloy) incense burner in the form of a Qilin made in China during the late Ming period.

Condition: the cover is missing and there is a small hole in the base; there is copper oxidation inside the tail and there are traces of the original black lacquer coating between its scales and in some of the recesses.

An early 18th Century "Chinese Imari" Tea Caddy or Cannister made in Jingdezhen, southern China, for export to Europe during the reign of the Yongzheng emperor (1723-1736). A finely potted deep dish, or shallow bowl, well painted in underglaze blue depicting three sinuous Chilong dragons amongst clouds and Lingzhi fungus. This item was made in the early 18th Century during the reign of the Yongzheng emperor (1723-1735). Condition - very good - there is one small shallow under rim chip (please view enlargements 3 & 5), no further damages and no restoration. 3.8cm (1.5 inches) deep; 16cm (6.3 inches) diameter.

A moulded porcelain deep dish, with barbed rim, painted in shades of under glaze blue depicting two celestial ladies in a garden setting enclosed by a broad border of radiating floral panels.

This item was made in Jingdezhen, China, for export to Europe, early in the reign of the Yongzheng emperor (1722-1735). Similar dishes were recovered from the "Ca Mau" ship wreck which sank off the coast of Vietnam, circa 1725.
