Antique Japanese two-section tansu from the Yonezawa region made from chestnut wood "Kuri", comes with a stand. Its large iron locks are incised with cherry blossoms and scrolling vines. Each drawer has mokko (melon) iron handles mounted on pierced backplates, and has pierced floral motif corner hardware. Its lockbox and the two drawers concealed within open with dual fish shaped iron pulls.

Antique Japanese Funa Bako or ship safe chest with an original black lacquer finish. Ornate iron hardware decorates the front of the box with a side locking mechanism. Behind the front door are six drawers with ring pulls. Two of the drawers are precious and small, one labelled in kanji. Ukiyo-e style images of fierce warriors and a demon appear in the two front paper blocks, and have kanji that has been cut from the tops. Mid Edo period Hagi Chawan in the stylish shape of modest slight distortion. It is roughly coated in slightly glossy white slip and bears beside a wari-kodai (splitted foot) a fantastic 'landscape' on the inside.

But the highlight is the old gold restoration, a fantastic gintsugi (kintsugi) which makes our Hagi tea bowl so valuable and outstanding.

The chawan comes together with a good wood box and a blue shifuku for a perfect protection.

This is a small nicely done Japanese Cloisonne vase with a gold wire butterfly. The enamel is of high quality and it appears like it could be a later Hayashi piece. It stands 3 3/4 inches tall and is in excellent condition. Just has come wear to silver on rims. It is not signed.
