An attractive antique cone shaped 6-piece Lacquer Food Offering Bowl from Burma, 19th Century. Good overall condition, some wear due to age. Two lids decorated in Famille rose colours in the Canton Famille rose or Rose Medallion style. Early 19th century, both with gilt berry handles. One lid is for a large vase or a soup bowl, ecuelle, and the smaller for a cup. Outer diameter of the rims that have to fit into another vessel is "2½/ 6,4 cm and "5½/ 13,7 cm respectively. Condition: repairs and a nick (cf pics).

A pair of coral ground tea bowls, c 1900. Enamelled decoration in blue and green with black transfer printed contours. Chinese export plate, decoration in Famille rose enamels of flowers and finger lemon. The well with an iron red border in European Rococo style and the background with greenish shade (more so than is seen on the photos). Diameter "9/ 23 cm. A fine and rare Qianlong period porcelain bowl decorated with a rich blue glaze accentuated with gold highlights. Featuring two different scenes of people in a landscape setting, the transparent enamel glazes feel smooth as silk. The bowl was repaired in the 1800's with 3 metal staples and there are 2 rim chips at the break. The repair is excellent, the bowl is solid, and it still retains a nice ring when tapped. Chinese blue and white saucer, Kangxi period, c 1700. “Clobbered” decoration in Imari style (added in Europe for higher retail value) of some of the auspicious Hundred Treasures in iron red and gilt. Diameter "5¼ / 13.2 cm. Condition: a glaze flake to the rim and minimal nicks to foot rim.

Small wine bowl, beautifully enamelled in Famille rose colours. Coffee coloured glaze to the exterior, so called Batavia ware (shipped from the Dutch colony in Indonesia, Batavia, today known as Jakarta). Yongzheng or early Qianlong, first half of the 18th century. Diameter "2½/ 6.6 and height "1½/ 4 cm. Condition: a hairline (cf picture).

DESCRIPTION: A large Qing Dynasty artist’s calligraphy brush fashioned from wood and carved in a naturalistic design. The long black bristles are attached to a bulbous ferrule with the handle carved in a design reminiscent of bamboo leaves. This is a substantial, sturdy brush that shows usage wear and minor splitting on the handle. DIMENSIONS: 17 ¼” long (43.8 cm).

A superb sculptural work of horizontal facets stacked upon each other in twisting obelisk by Mashiko based potter Matsuzaki Ken enclosed in the original signed wooden box. This is a masterpiece by this artist. It is 17 inches (43 cm) tall, 8 x 8-1/2 inches (20 x 21 cm) and in excellent condition. An identical shape is held in the collection of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and published in the book “Contemporary Clay, Japanese Ceramics for the New Centruy” by Joe Earle.

A lacquered wood manuscript cover with the rectangular panel carved with scrolling foliate tendrils with a carved vase in the center. Age: 18th Century. Size: L. 37cm. H.14cm. Condition: Normal ageing with and old chip on the left edge and age crack on the right side.

Cylinder shaped (hanzutsu) tea bowl made of light, fine, unrefined Mino clay. Shape and style (note the trimmed walls) make it appear contemporary with the late Oribe bowls.

The expertly thrown body is covered with the typical white, feldspatic Shino glaze has been poured under which a decoration of a willow tree (yanagi) and a fence have been applied in iron oxide (oni ita).
