DESCRIPTION: A fine, large Chinese boxwood toggle in the shape of a Chinese coin with four script characters on each side surrounding the square hole. Around the edge, various plant and animal forms are carved in high relief, including a flower, bird, squirrel and bat. The suspension cord, connecting it to an object such as a tobacco pouch, would have been strung through the openings under the bat's wings. Japanese wooden Money box, Coin Box used in Shrine or Temple Prayer's Alter, later part of Meiji period, late 1800's, 10" high, 10" wide, 15 1/2" deep, with black wrought iron lock compartment, round flower shape button slide from left to right to open. The top front section lift up and open the box, there are round coin slot and paper money slot on top. This is all original condition and some scratches on wooden surface, no major damage.

Very detailed repousse made of copper depicting the Hindu deity Krishna, seen holding a spear in one hand and some sort of vine in the other. He has worshippers on either side of him, adorned in lavish jewelry, headdresses, and scarves. Behind Krishna is the winged holy being Garuda, who serves as the mount to Lord Vishnu. 19th century. Beautiful bronze offering chalice from India with one large peacock surrounded by four smaller peacocks, bowing their heads in worship to the central bird. The chalice has a hinge on its front and back, which could secured shut with a pin or rope. The bronze has some red patina on the feathers of each bird and has bronze patina. Antique copper letter opener with a Jadeite handle, with traces of gold gilt and overlaid silver hilt. The hilt is a small silver bat, a symbol of good luck. Carved on one side of the knife is a Chinese dragon and sun, on the other side is a phoenix or fenghuang with a long vine of berries and a flower. Antique Tibetan kapala, or human skullcup, with a beautiful bronze stand. In Tibet, it was considered a great honor to have one's cranium turned into a kapala, which would be used for religious purposes. Kapalas are used in the Hindu Tantra and Buddhist religions. This is a great Japanese cloisonne bowl. We are quite confident the artist was Kumeno. The bowl while being very attractive does have some condition issues. There are lines and some slight enamel loss but it is still a dazzling display piece. The bowl measures 5 1/2 inches across and is 3 1/2 inches tall.

Chinese Pig Skin Leather Trunk in reddish brown color, 11 1/2" high, 27" wide, 17 1/2" deep, with brass round lock plate and handles on both side and lined with cotton fabric inside, and maker's trade marks stamped in front. There are some wear and tear on two(2) corners near top front area.

A beautiful Suiseki mounted on rich red carved wood base enclosed in a custom made kiri-wood display box. There is a sublime balance between the ragged peaks and deep clefts in the stone, and excellent example of the Renzan (Range) type of stone. Antique Bronze hand of Buddha from Thailand. The hand itself holds different meanings, depending on how it is being gestured.
