Tibetan yak butter tea “po cha” or barley beer “chang” bowl carved from burlwood, possibly Rhododendron circa 50 to 100 years old. D:11.8cm/4.6in and H: 5cm/1.9in, there is one worn chip on the edge. A charming old piece- difficult to find these days. This was not turned on a lathe, but entirely carved by hand.

Magnificent Nezumi-Shino Chawan with a true wabi sabi aesthetic form and a thick feldsparic glaze on a classic background of Nezumi-Shino — an art form dating back to the Momoyama period of Japan that was revived in the mid-1900s by legendary potter Arakawa Toyozo and others.

The tea bowl was made of little reddish, coarse, unrefined Mino clay and the expertly thrown body was trimmed with a potter's knife in its lower part.

An antique Japanese 3 section Isho Tansu (clothing chest) made entirely of Kirinoki (Paulownia) wood. All original metal hardware with mitered and straight dovetail Japanese joinery reinforced by hardened wooden nails. Upper section has two sliding doors behind which are two small drawers and a split level shelf. The center section has four large drawers and the bottom section has three large drawers. The base riser adds 3 inches of height to the overall chest.

Antique Chinese Chizhou stoneware kendi (handleless pouring vessel with spout). Also called Tz'u-chou, this high-fire stoneware is decorated with rich brown-black glaze. It has a raised design of a band of flowers around it's middle and a scalloped pattern around it's mouth. The elegant form has a tapered spout with a slight bend.

DRAGON INKSTONE

Refined skillful stone carving of such dynamic dragon with a ball in the mouth, and also its finishing of lid and fine details with scales are quite aesthetic. Late 20th century, Korea. approx. 17.5 x 11.5 x H 5.5cm (6.88 x 4.52 x 2.16in). Some scratches due to aging, but in generally good condition as is.
