Title: Totsuka Print size: Approximately 6.825 x 4.825 inches (17.4 x 11.8 cm). Dimensions without borders: 16.2 x 10.9 cm. Publisher: Watanabe Shozaburo. Shotei seal at upper right. Date: Prior to the Great Kanto Earthquake of 1923, in which the original blocks were destroyed. This is the only known example. Reference: Authenticity confirmed and slated to be added to the Shotei catalog. Medium: Japanese woodblock print.

The white porcelain dog is decorated with brown and blue spots on its body and brown highlights on his eyes, ears, and tail. The underside of the puppy is incised to show the legs, feet, and belly hair, and it has not been glazed. The puppy measures about 2 3/4" long x 1 1/4" high, and dates to the mid 19th Century. SOLD Antique Japanese bronze temple bell or bonsho, with a handle of dragon heads called a ryuzu, protrusions called chi chi or nyu to improve resonance of sound, the tsuki-za striking panels, and the mei-bun inscription of the bell's history.
