Such bowls were used in Buddhist ceremonies. 19th Century, Burma. Bowl shows wear over the many years and has a natural aged patina. Good condition. Size: 14 cm. x 24 cm. diameter in center (5.5" x 9.5" diameter).

The Bien Hoa school was created in 1906 by French administrators who, seeing Vietnamese art and culture disappear during colonization, wanted to safeguard this important Vietnamese artistic heritage. The school was therefore created, it housed hundreds of Annamese students who became sculptors, painters, ceramists, cabinetmakers etc.....
