19th Yi dynasty Korean Buddha painting with 16 deities. The Korean Buddhist painting represents the portrayal of buddha giving a sermon on the Lotus Sutra on Youngchuksan mountain. The buddha is centrally positioned and directed as a larger figure amongst the many budasatvasf and lesser gods.

This pair of painted portraits depicts the newlywed Justice Minister Choi Seok-min (1858-1915) and his wife. The level of photo-like realism in these paintings is astounding. 19th Century portraits of women are exceedingly scarce. This is the only example we have ever seen offered for sale.
