This rare and attractive porcelain bowl was made during the Wanli Reign (1573 - 1620) of the Ming Dynasty. This type of porcelain is referred to as "Swatow" or "Zhangzhou" ware and was often exported to the South East Asian market. This fine porcelain bowl was made during the 12th century at one of the kilns in Fujian province (most likely the Tongan kilns). The inner surface is attractively decorated with a scrolling floral pattern. It is coated in an olive-green glaze that is finely-crackled in places and that falls short of the base revealing the pale grey body. $750.00 Rare cane in silver and precious wood. It is a real walking cane (and not a thin umbrella handle reemployed) as evidenced by the large ball knob that we have well in hand. The cast silver pommel is chiseled with two dragons fighting and scenes of daily life, fishermen, plowman, warrior? On the top of the pommel a Chinese character protrudes, it is finely chiseled with broken lines in the style of "ice crack" (frosted cracks) which here certainly have a meaning which unfortunately escapes us...
A pair of well cast Chinese bronze flower vases, Yuan/early Ming dynasty, 14th/15th century, square section, with dragon head and loose ring handles. 23 cms.
Some original casting faults, but no damage or repair.

Inquire for Price Republic period, 1940s or earlier, semi translucent jade brush washer, or possibly a snuff tray, in an unusual oval shape with a small carved flower button in the center. The jade has a lovely soft polished surface which is always rare to find. Color is best described as white jade with a pale celadon tint and, for presentation; we have it resting on a white jade bi from a later date. Both are included in the sale. An unusual Chinese cloisonne enamel bowl, Qianlong, decorated inside and out with red lotus flowers and green lotus pads on a blue ground, the centre of the interior and the base each with a pale green lotus pod. 18 cms diam., 10 cms high. Heavily cast. 830g.
I have seen this design on a couple of moon flasks, but never on a deep bowl such as this.
