A Very Rare Group of Chinese Sui / Early Tang Dynasty Ritual Pottery Vessels (with Oxford TL Test)

These exquisite Buddhist pottery items were made around the 7th century during either the Sui Dynasty (AD 581 - 608) or the early part of the Tang Dynasty (AD 618 - 906). They are made from a white pottery and coated in a finely-crackled pale yellow glaze that has spots of green here and there. In places the glaze has acquired a silvery iridescence...

Made of gilt brass, 2 with gilt brass balls, the others with glass balls. One finial with chips to the glass, one finial lacks its attachment disk and one finial has been mounted on a brass foot. H. 5-6,5 cm. Ca. Late 19th century.

The small size of the figures (23-29 cm) makes this an interesting and rare group. The moulded figures still have much of their painting intact. The come in different sizes with different faces. Originally they carried wooden attributes or weapons. Condition: normal age wear, a few repairs (one arm and some toes, see pictures), overal in very good condition. A beautifully preserved Han dynasty (221 B.C. to 206 A.D.) wine cup with mackerel silver highlights. This is caused by damp conditions within the tomb in combination with exposure to air, which in effect causes the silver to separate from the lead and surface toward the top. This wine cup has the original kiln supports still present. Authenticity guaranteed, it measures 13 cm long x 11 cm wide x 5 cm high (5" x 4.25" x 2"). No chips, no hairlines, etc.

Large Chinese jardiniere with a rich dark green glaze with a dragon, a rooster, two deer, and the Shou character for longevity. In pristine condition, it measures 7" high x 9" diameter. Dates 1850 or earlier

The body is composed of two phoenixes, the heads of the birds naturally forming the handles. The stone is very hard, green speckled with translucent white. The cover is also formed of 2 birds, it is not pierced so it is possible that it is not a censer, although it can be used without a cover. It is placed on a finely carved hardwood base. There are some numbers stamped inside, probably so as not to mix up the bases. China 20th century around the 70s. Good condition...

Greenish white jade bead necklace. It is made up of 45 beads. The central pearl is the largest, having a diameter of 15mm, the other pearls are of decreasing diameter. The clasp is in gilt filigree silver and is hallmarked "silver" on the reverse.Probably Chinese work from the 20th century.The colour is a very pale green The color is a pretty very pale green (the photo is correct for the colour).
