SOLD An antique Chinese summer undergarment made of bamboo tubes for cooling. The garment was used to prevent silk from sticking to the skin during the hot summer months.
Date: 19th C Dimensions:25.5" wide X 58" long Up for sale is an antique Chinese Manchu woman's informal domestic robe; 19th century; trims embroidered with flowers and butterflies, and purple silk damask ground embroidered with dragon roundels, backed with light blue silk. Front enclosure to the right with 4 large gilt toggle-and-loop buttons. The robe is in good condition, vibrant colors! Slight discolorations & stains in few places of the purple silk, both front and back front, & white sleeve bands are soiled in few places...
Up for sale is an antique Chinese Qing dynasty embroidered dragon silk robe, Jifu, with nine 5-clawed dragons executed in couched gold wrapped threads; clouds, Buddhist & Taoist auspicious symbols, bats, sea waves, and standing water ( Lishui) are executed in brick stitch.Overall is in excellent condition, no frays across shoulders' folding lines.
Measurements : 54" from collar to bottom, 27" between arm pits, 85" across shoulders when stretched open, bottom width 42"
This pair of black silk lotus shoes date to the late Qing Dynasty. Back then, a woman's job was to make shoes for the members of her family. This woman was from a financially comfortable family with servants to do other household chores.
Making this pair for herself, she choose a black silk satin fabric for the vamp and made an elegantly sloping sole which would accommodate separate inter changeable heels to be attached...

This 19th Century traditional Han Chinese robe would have been used for winter wear. It uses dark black satin weave silk fabric, and has very wide cuffs with floral embroidery and the shape is trimmed out with a floral silk ribbon. The coat has its original buttons and fabric loop closures...and has original lining.

In some regions of China, women made separate pairs of heels for their lotus shoes. That way, the heels could be worn with different pairs of lotus shoes, depending on the occasion, or mood. The heels had loops for straps which were used to tie the heels into place on the shoe...

Chinese late Qing dynasty Han style lady's jacket with a deep blue silk brocade background woven with bats among clouds. The sleeve bands are embroidered with cranes among branches laden with fruit and flowers set against a white ground bordered with woven ribbon accents. The collar, side closure, and ruyi head-form hem are all embroidered with butterflies and stylized flowers edged in yellow silk and ribbons set against a white ground. Five floral form metal buttons secure the side closure...

The Qing dynasty, officially the Great Qing, was the last imperial dynasty of China. It was established in 1636, and ruled China proper from 1644 to 1912. It was preceded by the Ming dynasty and succeeded by the Republic of China... This is a traditional Qing Dynasty woman's skirt.
Chines skirts during this time period were made in 2 sections which were "buttoned" together with "frogs" The skirt was then wrapped around the hips so that the flat sections were displayed at at the front and back....the pleated sections were at draped the sides...

Chinese late Qing dynasty (19th century) front-opening Han style lady's jacket embroidered on the front and back in silk polychrome thread with clusters of flowering plants and butterflies on a dark cobalt blue silk satin ground. Much of the embroidery is executed with the “forbidden stitch.” The sleeve bands are similarly embroidered with flowers and Buddhist swastikas on a white silk ground. Three round floral metal buttons secure the front opening and silk closures secure the neck...

$350.00 Near perfect pair of fuschia colored silk Chinese lotus shoes for bound feet. Each shoe is embroidered with delicate gold couching and a silk satin stitched butterfly. In excellent condition they have been packed and stored in a box for the past century. Color is vibrant having not been exposed to sunlight.
