Provenance: from the estate of James G Jameson, Southern California. 19th century. Size of painting only: 55 1/2" high x 30" wide. Size including frame: 60 3/4" high x 35" wide.

A quite large bamboo brush pot, all around deeply carved with warriors among a pagoda landscape. Condition: the separately carved volute foot with losses. One warrior with missing arm (see picture no.6), few cracks. Dimension: 18.5 cm high, diameter: c. 13.1 cm.

Long temple banner, also called "bridge painting" hand painted on paper representing Taoist deities in all sorts of situations. A stick is affixed on both ends. China, mid 19th century, Yao ethnic group, south-west China. Length: 4.12 m. A few restorations and losses, otherwise good condition.

Painted in black ink and light colors on paper. Margins on either side of the painting are full of calligraphy. Signed Fu Bao Shi (1904-1965)

Antique Chinese framed painting of the mythological figure Zhong Kui, commander of 80,000 demons, vanquisher of evil spirits, and guardian of households. He appears to be controlling an unhappy looking green demon with a turtle shell, sometimes called Shui Gui. Two small bats fly just next to the calligraphy on the lefthand side, with red chop by the artist.
