Beautifully small painting of a woman and a man, the story being that the man married a woman of a much higher class. The man is crouched near a stream with tea cup in hand. An exquisitely beautiful woman stands at a table under a thatched roof nearby. Painted with a very fine brush in ink and mineral colors on silk. Signed Quan Jin d. 1990. Framed. I have seen many antique paintings of mountain tigers, but none with this level of realism. This Chinese painting dates late Qing, 1910-1912, possibly early Republic, pre 1920. The seal indicates that it came from a shop in Southern China. It measures approximately 17" wide x 48" high.

Portrait of ancestor. Painting on paper representing a noble lady. The style of the furniture and its quality suggest that it is an important wealthy family of the 18th century, without however being of the imperial family because the dragons represented on the dress have only 4 claws. The face is admirably painted, the artist played with the light to give us this living-dead head and yet it is beautiful without anything macabre. China circa 1800...

Beautiful black birds perched over a chrysanthemum bush. There is an inscription in the upper left corner and a cartouche. Sumi and light colors on silk. Mid Ching dynasty (1644-1911), circa 1800. It measures 12" wide 32" long, overall 16" wide by 55.5" long.

A simple one line Chinese calligraphy attributing to Chi Xizhao (1793-1866). The calligraphy reads: The pure jade harmonizing with the gold with the pure wind in the forest of treasure. The work is dated to year of the water boar (approximately 1863), mid spring. Chi Xizhao was a noted Qing Period poet. Chi Xizhao was a scholar of the xueshi rank during the Jiaqing period. This scroll originally was one of a pair.
