Large Chinese Han dynasty (206 BC - 220 AD) iridescent green glazed tapering ovoid form burial jar decorated with a band of well moulded animal forms extending around the upper circumference of the jar. Measures 7" high x 8" diameter. The mouth and base have the typical indications of the Han firing process. Small remnants of the clay support from the kiln are visible at the lower base and at the mouth where the jar was detached from supports. Very good overall condition...

It was purchased in 1996 from Lam’s Gallery in Hong Kong.

Large Western Han Dynasty (206 BC - 9 AD) hu form earthenware jar with a flaring mouth embellished with a wide raised collar. The chalky painted mineral pigment decoration on this type of jar was designed to imitate the inlaid decoration on Chinese bronze vases. According to the Metropolitan Museum, the swirling cloud-like designs covering the vessel are thought to represent celestial mists through which the deceased would travel to join the immortals. Dates circa 1st century B.C...

Chinese Tang dynasty (618-907) pottery figure of a standing lady (often referred to as a “fat lady”), dressed in a long-sleeved, high-waisted, full-length robe. One boat-shaped shoe protrudes from the bottom of the robe. The sleeve of her gown covers her right hand while the left hand is exposed. Her hair is gathered in a double-topknot at the top of her head. Cold painted red pigment remains over the thin layer of white slip covering the red pottery...

Rarely encountered Chinese Tang dynasty (618-907) pottery figure of a court gentleman (often referred to as a “fat man”) wearing a scarf hat and dressed in a long, belted gown with one arm raised, his hand covered by his voluminous sleeve, and the other hand holding the belt. A very rare extremely large storage jar from the Chinese Song period, 960 -1126 AD.These jars were used for storage for Chinese trading vessels. They were then traded off to Chieftains in Southeast Asia and were considered sacred items. Most jars were from the Ming to the middle Qing Dynasties. This one is very rare as it dates back to the Song Dynasty. This vase was found in Borneo, Malaysia. It is unusual to find this size jar intact from that period. Size: H. 76 cm. W. 57 cm...

A superb quality and very large pottery figure, dating to the Ming Dynasty, 1368-1644 AD.

He is placed on a rectangular podium and wears a fine robe in matching blue and turquoise glazes.

The unglazed areas have pigmented colors in red, black and white. Finely painted facial details.

A beautiful large matching pair of Ming attendants. It is unusual and rare to find a matching pair of a male and female attendants with a beautiful matching three color glaze. The expressions are very real and natural. Both original heads are removable.The heads are removable from the bodies because they are molded to look like the actual attendants that took care of the deceased. Size: Male H.46cm. Female H. 44cm.
