A classical Japanese low display table in slightly crackled black lacquer by Suwa Sozan I Delicate gold designs of butterflies, soaring birds and floral sprays decorate the legs and edges, the top is simple black, allowing whatever is displayed to stand on its own. The top features a landscape scene with blooming Wisteria, a tree with flowers, birds, water side huts, borders and rippling waves of water. The scene is surrounded by a checkerboard design with a raised lip. Gold makie lacquer highlights the designs on a chestnut brown hardwood.
