Chinese Song Dynasty Qingbai Glazed Porcelain Dish (Ex. Grahame Clarke Collection)

This beautifully lobed dish was made during the Song Dynasty (AD 960 - 1279) and has the simple stylishness typical of Song Qingbai porcelains. There are some glaze crackles which occurred during the firing, one of which, in the centre, penetrates through to the foot (please note that this not damage). The glaze is of a delicate pale green and has a silky "frosted" feel to it.

Very rare Warring States jar with ribbed pattern. I’ve seen these in publications, but this is the first one I have seen in person. There is one chip on the mouthrim, as can be seen in enlargements, but otherwise in excellent condition. Very sharply carved with decorated lugs. H: 13cm/5.1in and D: 16cm/6.2in.

Good bronze small “lost wax cast” image of the Buddha being sheltered by Nagas. This piece was created in the 1980s emulating a Khmer style. An antique 2 section Korean Nong made of Elm, Genko and Pine woods. Nickel hard mounts with foliated central lock plate medallions. Ryu shaped hinges. An antique Japanese Okidoko (low display stand) made of Keyaki (Zelkova) wood. An attractive, light turquoise glazed porcelain jar. Anhua (‘hidden’ or ‘secret’) decoration of peonies and vine incised into the porcelain and discernable through the glaze. A six character Kangxi mark, also Anhua (incised into the porcelain), visible through the glaze centered inside the foot rim. The mark is probably apocryphal as we believe the jar is not earlier than 19th century.

A large Korean black lacquered wood box with mother of pearl inlay. The depiction of pairs of cranes and songbirds within the decorative panels likely relevant to a wedding gift.. Joseon dynasty, 19th century. Condition is fair to good, with some some light loss to inlays and minor distress from age and use. From the hardware, 19 1/4 inches wide, 10 1/8 inches deep, 10 3/4 inches high.

Rare lavender tinged glaze covers the rough Iga clay forming this sake flask by important artist Atarashi Kanji enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Iga Tokkuri. The unusual coloration is punctuated with classic Iga traits, shell marks, undulations in the form, and an emerald drip clinging to the rim. It is 15 cm (6 inches) tall and in excellent condition, directly from the artist. I highly recommend this with the guinomi previously listed.
