Chinese Bamboo woven Food Basket with Bamboo handle, 19" high with handle, 13 1/2" x 7 1/2" wide, made later part of 1800's to early part of 1900's, with three(3) tiered compartments. Some of the Brass decorative buttons are missing. Bottom of the handles on both sides have carved Monogram "S" and very fine Bamboo weaving with many detailed different patterns on the entire surface.

Chinese Bamboo woven 2 compartment Food Basket with handle and black Iris ink painting on top of the lid, and clear lacquer finish on the entire basket. Ca. early 1900's or later part of 1800's, 17 1/2" high with handle, 14" x 8 1/2" wide. All the parts are in place, nothing is missing. The basket is in good condition except wood joint have separation on the bottom of the trays, caused by the dryness and age. Maker's mark on the bottom in black.

This is tsutsugaki Fireman shirushi hanten coat in Edo period(1603-1867). It is very impressive hanten of the design of the dragon. The material is seems to be hand spun in thick indigo dye cotton. It is very beautiful.It is made of hand-spun and hand-woven and natural indigo dyed cotton. There is a stain. There is no damage. It is very good. size:88cm x 127cm (34.6" x 49,8")

An original painting on shikishi paper by Suda Kyochu (1908 - 1964), depicting a frog in a pond. Painted in ink and with natural pigments. Suda Kyochu was a pupil of Seison Maeda (1885 - 1977), one of the greatest contemporary Japanese painters and one of the founders of the Nihonga movement. Signed and with original folder. The only damage is the one handle has been re-stuck. The bowl appears to be a communal eating bowl with an owners marking. The interior mark translates to "battle ax" which may indicate it was used by a military man. A cheerful family outing adorns this rich and colorful display of a day out in the country side. Dated to the late 19th and just prior to 1891. The ginger jar is in excellent condition without chips, hairlines, with very little rubbing of the details, hardly noticeable at all.
