A very large ceramic box in the shape of a peach that was used to decorate the ancestral altar. Such boxes were used to hold trinkets, precious offerings, and maybe incense when worshiping ones' ancestors. The inside of the box is divided and sealed with a green glaze. The peach measures about 5" long x 5" wide x 3 1/4" high, and dates to the end of the 19th Century. The Box has one chip at the side of one leaf. Free shipping within the USA.
