Antique Korean single section cabinet made with elm wood and hardwood burl panels. Hardware is made of brass. Beautiful rich patina. The upper portion has four small drawers in a horizontal row along the very top. The body of the chest is mostly made up of two large compartments opened by hinged doors.

A beautifully carved cinnabar round box depicting a sage and his attendant walking under a pine tree in a waterfront scene. We date this box to mid-Qing Dynasty, 18th century. The box is in very good antique condition, with some expected minor loses and small chips, parts of the rims are retouched. Chinese hardwood cabinet made with Jumu (elm) or "chicken wing" wood and brass pulls and mounts. The double front doors showcase the dramatic natural grain. Behind each set of doors are a red lacquered interior with single shelving. The mid section of the cabinet holds two drawers that open with auspicious lucky bat handles.

Antique Japanese choba tansu made of keyaki (elm) wood. The top portion has two small drawers. The middle portion has a compartment opened by sliding panels with horizontal slats. The slats are made of quarter sawn keyaki wood which dramatically accents the striped quality of the wood grain. Below this is a single large drawer. The hardware is made of iron and includes round lock plates.

Antique Japanese hand scroll painting of Legends of Mount Shigi based on a painting called Shigisan-engi. The long narrative scroll depicts miracles revolving around a monk named Myoren who lived on Mount Shigi. According to the legends, Myoren was drawn to Mount Shigi by a Buddha statue. He built a shrine there and, that winter, he survived on rice provided to him by his roving rice bowl. A small Guanyin / Guan Yin, moving graciously with ribbons and a fan, her hairdo with flowers and jewels. Chinese, early Republic period or somewhat earlier, carved in greenish speckled soapstone and fixed onto a rhombic hardstone stand. Height altogether "4 ¾ / 12 cm. Condition: piece of the ribbon near the right shoulder of the goddess is missing (cf. pics).

A beautifully carved and gilt boxwood figure of Guan Yin / Guanyin. The goddess is holding the holy Buddhist scripture and has placed her hand between the open pages. China, Republic period, c 1920. The surface of the carving is covered with a thin layer of red that mixes with the gilt. The figure can be fixed to an oval wooden stand. Height (the stand not included) "4 ¾ / 12.3 cm. Condition: fine.

A Tenmoku Hanging vase by the living master of that genre, Kimura Morikazu, enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Tetsuyu Kohen Kake-hana-ike. The lozenge form features two lug handles in the shape of a traditional Waniguchi Japanese Shrine Gong. It is 7-1/2 x 6-1/2 x 2 inches (19 x 16.5 x 5.5 cm) nd in excellent condition, retaining the original shiori and wrapping cloth.
