An antique Japanese Gifu Mizuya (kitchen chest) made of Hinoki (Cypress) and Suginoki (Cryptomeria) with Kakinoki (Persimmon) wood drawer fronts and sliding door panels. All original bronze hand made hardware including handwoven bronze screen wire on the bottom sliding doors. Also, original etched glass on the center sliding doors. Small lift out door covers an additional storage area.

Cambodian semi antique Khmer basket circa pre 1950. Excellent condition, with natural lacquer and some painted design. Woven with split bamboo it is still quite serviceable, please view enlargements to appreciate the detail of this weave- you will not find any genuinely old baskets in Cambodia anymore (or anywhere else for that matter). Rivulets of green glaze descend all sides of this sublime storage jar, the bottom raw red Tamba clay dating from the Edo period. About the rim are four “mimi” ears for tying down the wooden bung. A Japanese porcelain chawan, tea bowl, decorated with a continuous landscape. The concave foot left unglazed. The rim has a number of kintsugi, repaired chips using lacquer and gold dust.

A similar tea bowl is shown in Sekai Toji Zhenshu, Ceramic Art of the World, Vol 8. Edo Period III, no:240, described as Nakano Kiln, Hirado, mid 18th century.

Approximately 11 cm diameter. Fine condition.
