Raised designs in slip decorate the yellow glaze of this deep bowl by Kawai Kanjiro enclosed in a kiriwood box titled O-yu Tsutsugaki-mon Wan annotated by Kawai Toshitaka, current head of the Kawai Kanjiro Museum. This piece dates from later in the artists illustrious career, 1950s-1960s. It is 4 inches (10 cm) diameter, 3-1/4 inches (5 cm) tall and in excellent condition.

Antique Japanese 2-section mizuya tansu (chest on chest for kitchen storage) from the Kyoto area. Made with hinoki (Japanese cypress) wood frame and sugi (cryptomeria) wood interior. Antique Japanese 2-section biraki isho tansu (clothing chest with opening doors) made especially for storing kimono. The top section has hinged doors which open to reveal a set of 7 kimono trays which can be slid all the way out like shallow drawers. The bottom section has three large drawers. The chest is made all of kiri (paulownia) wood and has pierced hardware with designs of peony flowers.

A rare pair Japanese plates showing a dragon among textile-weave patterns worked in dull colored enamels, the brass or copper rims and wires showing partially remnants of gilding. The reverse decorated with further floral motifs, the base with green contre-émail. The enamel showing concavities and pits. Condition: fine, only wear to gilding. Dimension: diameter: 24.9 cm, 4.2 cm high, weight: 1400 g.

Lovely maiden of bronze holding basket of sea life including octopus and walking with sandals, signed with rectangular cartouche reading 誠谷作, Seiya saku. That would point to Genryūsai Seiya (源龍斎誠谷). Realistic Tokyo School bronze dating from the Meiji Period (1868-1912). With natural burl wood base.

Chinese late Qing to early Republic period rosewood multi-tiered display stand carved with bamboo-form supports holding seven shelves for displaying objects. Carved bamboo leaf details are in the bottom corners. Early 20th century. 30" high x 19 3/4" wide x 10" deep. Very good overall condition. There are some separations from our dry climate and a few minor scratches, but the stand seems quite stable. From the Scottsdale estate of a former antique dealer.

1930's Chinese Fuzhou Lacquer Happy Buddha

It is 13.4 inches (34 cm) tall by 13.6 inches (34.5 cm) wide. It is 646 gram (1.3 Lb).

It has rubbing of paint, a chip at the hat's finial, chips and cracks at one spot at the sleeve, stains, writing at the underside of the hat, and surface wears and scratches (as seen in the photos).

Set of three large graduated Japanese Arita porcelain serving bowls, each decorated in underglaze blue with a landscape scene featuring a temple set against craggy mountains and trees. A flowing band of scrolling foliage encircles the exterior. Late Meiji Period to early 20th century. Base marked. In diameter, each measures: 10," 8 7/8" and 7 1/2." In height, they are 3 3/4," 3 3/8" and 2 3/4." Excellent condition with no chips, cracks or hairlines. From a Tucson, Arizona estate.
