A Tea Pot by Hattori Tatsuya enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Ginsai Pot alongside a small doodle of the tea pot itself. It is 15 x 11 x 10 cm (6 x 4-1/4 x 4 inches) and in excellent condition, from the artist this past winter. He is a master of silver glazes, and his forms, especially his tea pots, are very popular and generally sell out quickly, we are lucky to be able to offer one.

Square dish with straight rims, with elegant indentation on each corner. In the center two cranes (or similar birds) walking on rocks underneath a pine tree near the sea. On the inside of the rims a continuous border of heart-shaped flowers, on the outside a border with diamond pattern, broken by one cartouche on each side, containing a house. The top of the rim decorated with a karakusa-border.

Tall vessel of square shape, cut out of a section of a Paulownia (kiri) tree showing knots on three sides, where side branches used to be. The wood is stained dark brown. One side of the vessel is decorated with inlays/appliques and lacquer paint. The appliques colored with gold sprinkle, silver flakes and green lacquer.

The seal of the publisher Unsodo, and the seals of the carver Nagashima, and printer Shinmi are in the left margin. The artist's black ink signature and red seal are at the upper right corner of the image. The Unsodo (“Un”) watermark is faintly visible at the lower left margin corner. Japanese Wooden Tonkotsu, Tobacco container, with Kiseruzutsu, Pipe Holder, and carved nut Ojime, before 1900, Tobacco box - 3 1/2", 3 1/4", 1 1/2" high, pipe holder - 8 3/4" long, 1" wide, Nut Ojime - 3/8" diameter, top of the round wooden Tobacco Container and pipe is attached to the rope, all in one piece. Pile holder is natural carved wood, natural dark brown bark shows on the back. Maker's mark on the pipe. The condition is good.

Antique Japanese small bronze tsuridoro, Buddhist hanging temple lantern. Finely incised with designs of clouds, waves, scrolling vines and hollyhock leaves. A handle for hanging is attached by a chrysanthemum bud finial.

Fine old Shan Burmese lacquer box, circa early 20th century with one tray and depicting monkeys playing in foliate background. This piece is a real classic beauty (IMHO). There are a couple of repairs at the edge of the rim noted in enlargements as well as craclature on the surface and nicks around the foot. H: 19.2cm/7.6in and D: 22cm/8in.

Hanten, called "suzukake" worn by a Shugen-sha or Yamabushi who practiced Shugendo. Shugendo is the Japanese unique religion combining Buddhism, Shintoism, and worship of nature (mountains). Japanese Edo period thickly potted Seto stoneware circular form dish with raised edge designed to hold lantern oil. The cream-colored crackle glaze dish is decorated in copper brown in the fukizumi (blown ink) style with a central fish laid over a jar.
