Sold, Thank You! An interesting and well-shaped tea bowl, this Meiji piece surely has stories to tell. The gold repairs traversing one side of the bowl are extensive and skillfully applied, nicely complimenting the dark ferrous clay and flaxen glaze. Many find such repairs quite attractive and in this case they clearly add an extra dimension to this lovely work.

Japanese Meiji period (1868-1912) Satsuma earthenware vase finely decorated around the circumference in polychrome enamel and gilt highlights with ladies and girls of the nobility engaged in leisure activities in an outdoor garden setting. The vase is moulded with densely decorated relief petals at the top and bottom. Koyama Nanpo mark to base. 6 1/8” high. 19th century. Excellent overall condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. SOLD Japanese framed print by artist Tanaka Ryohei, born in 1933 in Takatsuki City, Osaka Prefecture. He has appeared in numerous art exhibits all over the world and his collections may be viewed in many museums such as the Cincinnati Art Museum, Museum of Modern Art San Francisco, and the Shanghai, China Museum. The medium used for this print are copperplate etching with aquatint. Titled "June", dated 1993, signed, and numbered 110/150 in its series in pencil.
