A very rare and large 18th Century AMARAPURA Wooden BUDDHA, Burma, seated on a Lotus flower base, subduing Mara. Beautiful gilding on black lacquer patina and inlaid with small colored mirror pieces. Good overall condition. Left side of base (not the Buddha itself) has an inconsequential fissure due to the considerable age and climatic conditions. Size: H. 115 cm. x W. 70 cm. x D. 46 cm.

DESCRIPTION: A pair of polychrome figures engaged in joyful dance, one male and one female, mounted on display stands. These colorful hand carved figures, called "Nats" or nature spirits, are dressed in traditional Thai costumes with the male figure wearing a tiger head cap. Prior to the advent of Buddhism, the Thai people were animists who worshipped a series of nature spirits called Nats. Later these were incorporated into Buddhism and often Nat statues will be found in Buddhist temples...

Thai bronze head of a Bodhisattva. Ayutthaya period. Presentable decorative condition with tips of earlobes missing, core exposed atop head, and the body missing of course. Black lacquer and traces of gilt on the diadem and the back of the neck. Height of the head , about 3 3/4 inches (9.54 cm) not including the pin for securing on plinth. Total height including the plinth, 5 7/8 inches (14.9 cm)...

Circular wooden box with fitted interior. The cover inlaid in mother-of-pearl with ducks swimming in a lotus pond and auspicious symbols. The exterior walls with flowers and Chinese characters. Condition: separating age cracks, few inlays lost, cover with an old rim loss, interior warped. Dimension: diameter 24.3 cm, 11.2 cm high.

An extremely rare 22K. solid Gold STANDING MINIATURE GARUDA figure with very fine details. This Garuda was found during excavations of the foundations of an ancient Khmer temple. Excellent condition. Size: 2.3 cm. Weight: 10 gr. This Garuda has folded hands in adoration form and the wings are short and not spread out as it is not in flight. The tail feathers are very long.
