Rare wide brimmed Tibetan hat, meant to be worn by reincarnated lamas of a high-rank, called Tulku, who have the power to choose their manner of rebirth. It is covered in a copper/gold lacquer over incised designs with coiled dragons, flowers, and various Buddhist symbols. The inner part has pierced characters and a raised design, and is topped with a bronze and quartz finial with auspicious designs. Inside of hat has an illegible signature. 17th century Size: 14.75" wide, 6" tall

A very rare large gilded Royal Thayo receptacle created in Mandalay for Buddhist votive use. Thayo is made by mixing lacquer with sifted paddy husks to which pulverized bone is added for strength, resulting in a sort of plastic like material easily molded or stamped in a relief design. Size: H. 104 cm. 40.5 inches W. 44 cm. 17 inches. Condition: No repairs.

Superb sutra book (Kammavaca) made of two book covers made of teak wood and 16 pages made of palm wood. The pages are written recto/verso, in Pali script lacquered with black tamarind seed on a gilt background and illuminations. The two covers are with red drawings representing celestial beings on a gilt background. Burma, early 19th century. Dimensions: length: 62 cm, height: 12 cm. Burmese lacquered harp, or Saung, the body carved with gilt floral motifs and inlaid glass. The tip of the curved neck ends in a stylized gilt leaf with inlaid glass. The 14-stringed instrument sits displayed on a carved wood stand with temple guardians and lotuses.

A rare Burmese book with paper (made from mulberry tree bark) pages, the front and back covers with lacquer relief decoration with small inset glass spangles. The central panels showing the title of the book in Burmese script. Approximately 280 pages, handwritten in black Burmese script, edges gilt. Condition: covers are dusty (one is dirty) and with some wear, some corners with small losses. Pages with few stains, but wormholes. Dimension: 39.4 x 17.6 x 9.5 cm, weight: 2.4 kg.
