A large vase by Takahashi Dohachi and decorated by Hashimoto Dokuzan enclosed in the original wooden box signed by both artists. Also, stored in a separate compartment is a wooden stand which appears to have once been part of a temple or altar. The vase is covered in a typical crackled Kyo-yaki glaze, and decorated in cobalt with two figures in a watery landscape, one fishing, the other on top of a stone playing the flute...

This impressive han-tsutsu Shino chawan was made by the late 13th generation Mino potter Kato Seizo (1930-1979, Kagekiyo). This is a very attractive Vintage Japanese cloisonne vase designed with a contemporary style or deco look. We have never seen another like it. The vase is rather large and is signed Sato. It stands 7 1/2 tall and is 8 1/2 inches wide. It is in excellent condition with only a little pitting on the bottom rim. This is probably the finest cloisonne example we have seen produced from this company.

Antique Japanese cast iron tetusbin tea kettle by famous Ryobundo dating back to the Meiji period.

It has a great atmosphere with aestetic ume tsubomi (plum tree) design. Good condition with some expected rust. Signed Ryobundo on the outside.

This chawan was fired in the kilns of one of Kyoto’s best known raku-yaki potters, Sasaki Shoraku III (1944-). The Shoraku line began when the grandfather of the current potter established a kiln near the famous Kiyomizu temple, nestled at the foot of the eastern mountains in Kyoto. In 1945, the kiln was moved to Kameoka near the Yada shrine where it remains today.
