Antique Japanese two section Kiri wood Nihon Matsu tansu with top and sides lacquered in deep red. This chest has four large and medium drawers with decorative backplates handles, and large iron locks incised with different flora. The top section has a side lockbox with three small drawers inside. The front exterior of the shrine is made with beautiful red finish hardwood with black lacquer sides, folding silk meshed interior doors with gilt lacquer panels of flying cranes, a beautiful miniature temple scene inside where the image of a deity and offerings are to be placed. A carved gilt panel with dragons hangs overhead...

A large and ornate kiseru (tobacco pipe) dating from mid-to-late Edo. The metal fittings forming the ends of the pipe are engraved with detailed cherry blossoms and maple leaves being carried by the current of a stream. The bamboo tube connecting the fittings is in excellent condition and displays a soft warm luster. This piece is quite large as kiseru go—measuring 11.2 inches in length (28.5 cm)...

Very nice Satsuma water jar often used in Japanese tea ceremony. Made in a drum form, the body features boys at play. Being quite versatile, it would make a wonderful biscuit or candy jar from which to offer guests a treat. In excellent condition, it measures 5.5 inches high.

It is Japanese antique Edo-meiji indigo dye katazome silk nakagi-kimono.It does not have a stain.It has a damage on the back of the collar. This is a wonderful bright and colorful wireless cloisonne vase from Kumeno. The vase actually looks more like porcelain than cloisonne enamel. It has a pleasing stout form and is in excellent overall condition with some rim oxidation/wear. It stands 6 inches tall and is 5 inches wide.

Rich rivulets of stunning green crystallize on the surface of this tokkuri sake-bottle by important Mino artist Hayashi Kotaro enclosed in the original signed wooden box. The bottle is roughly 6 inches (15.5 cm) tall and in excellent condition.
Kotaro was born in Gifu prefecture, and graduated the prefectural ceramic facility...

Japanese shin hanga woodblock print by Shoda Koho (1871-1946) titled "A Bridge in the Rainy Season." This image was originally printed by Hasegawa circa 1910-1920. This lifetime impression was published after the name change from Hasegawa to Nishinomaya Yosaku and dates circa 1936-early 1940s. The Nishinomaya publisher’s seal is in the lower right margin. The artist’s black ink signature and red seal are at the lower left corner of the image...

Elegant, little distorted half cylinder shaped kutsugata tea bowl with flaring lip made of light, coarse, unrefined Mino clay.

The expertly thrown body is covered with the typical, glossy black iron oxide glaze inside and outside, leaving an unglazed 'window' on one side.

One 'window' is decorated with circles squares and lines in iron oxide glaze which has been covered with a clear ash and feldspar glaze...

A wide hira-jawan decorated with inlaid white slip in the pattern of flowers and rope. The Mishima style of pottery is modeled after much earlier Korean forms—most notably Punch'ŏng. The gold repairs are extensive and skillfully applied, nicely complimenting the pale ash glaze and adding an extra dimension to this lovely work.

This tranquil pond scene is done in sumi on gold leaf and has a black lacquer wooden frame. Appearing to date from Meiji or early Taisho, the various cranes and songbirds are depicted with light and playful brushstrokes giving the piece an air of serenity and calmness...

An old Nanban hanging flower vase, kakéhana, in its original inscribed box. The vase is in fine undamaged condition and has a good old patina. The inscription literally translates as “Nanban hanging flower vase”. The applied decoration is perhaps a depiction of a Buddhist rosary. 19th century.
