Antique Japanese hanging scroll of a monkey dancing the sambaso dance. It bears two seals, reading 'Genno,' Two seals, one for whom painted the monkey, the other who wrote the calligraphy. Haiku / Waka Poem made for the New Year. Taisho Period (1912 - 1926). It measures overall: 17" wide by 76" long, image: 14.5" wide by 43" long.

Antique Japanese velvet painting "Yuzen Birodo". It is a beautiful image of Mount Fuji with a small town on a lake, the foreground is full of water lilies. It bears a seal in the bottom right of the image. Yuzen Birodo or velvet painting was a technique made popular during the 17th century. The artist would work using a special process of dying where the image is created in the weave of the fabric thus creating an image of rich colors...

A porcelain Koro by Mashimizu Zoroku II and decorated with a tiger by Tomita Keisen and enclosed in the original wooden box signed by both artists. It is 12 cm (5 inches) diameter, the same height with a solid silver hoya of woven net weave by signed by Koju.

Lovely hand painted Japanese Kutani tea caddy with inner lid. The jar features birds in flight, a slight crackle finish, gold accents, and is in excellent condition. There are no chips, no cracks, no hairlines, no repairs. It is signed on the bottom. The tea caddy measures about 5.75 Inches (14.6 cm)tall. Circa 1900.

Very beautiful Kuro Oribe Chawan of early Edo period:

Only very little distorted half cylinder shaped (hanzutsu) tea bowl made of light, coarse, unrefined Mino clay. The expertly thrown body is covered with the typical, glossy black iron oxide glaze inside and outside, leaving an unglazed 'window' on one side. The 'window' is decorated with chidori (plovers) flying over an irrigation wheelin iron oxide glaze which has then been covered with a clear ash and feldspar glaze...

This is a child kimono of the Tohoku district of Edo period. This is Tsutsugaki where a face is very sharp. And it is very impressive with lining dyed in Akane. Generally, the dyeing madder-red was said to have been cut off early in the Edo era, but the dyeing madder-red was slightly handed down in the Hanawa area of the Akita area. And this lining was left. A heavy porcelain jardinere or plant holder very finely painted with flowering peony and other shrubs in shades of underglaze blue and standing on three Chinese Ming Dynasty style Lion head feet. This item was made in Japan during either the late 19th or early 20th Century. Condition: excellent - no damages and no restoration. 21cm (8.25 inches) high; 31cm (12.25 inches) diameter.

A fine small ivory okimono of Jurojin holding a peach with a deer at his side. The figurine measures 2.25" (5.7 cm) high. Signed on bottom, it is in excellent condition. Price $650 USD.
The ivory stand does not go with the okimono, but we like them displayed together. Stand measures 1.75" (4.4 cm) and has some age cracks, but it is solid. Stand price $125 USD.

An ancient technique known as “haito” in Japanese was used to give this piece its distinctive look. Thought to have originated in neolithic times and commonly used during the T’ang and Song dynasties in China, an excess of fuel is added at the very end of firing which causes a thick layer of grey ash to adhere to the outside of the vessel...

A bakumatsu era (mid 19th century) Shishi Koro of dark red clay covered in a rich green glaze from the Banko kilns in Mie. It is 14 x 24 x 8 cm (9 x 5-1/2 x 3 inches) and is in fine condition but for one clawed toe which has been chipped. This squat style of facial expression was popular from the declining years of the Edo period into the early Meiji, and fits the date of this piece perfectly.

Original woodblock of a samurai by Japanese master and teacher Toyokuni Utagawa, 1769-1825. Signed in lower left, the print is float mounted. In very good antique condition, there is some worm hole damage along the right edge. Measures sight size 13.5 inches high, 9.25 inches high.
