Japanese vintage obi with a mid-century modern flair, decorated on one side in bright yellow with orange and lime green dots accenting the points of a raised weave geometric star-patterned background. A charred Ash Glazed Mizusashi water container by Kumano Kurouemon enclosed in the original signed wooden box. Glaze is crisp but grows quite liquid as it drips down the molten form. On the side in bold strokes is written "Sonomamani", or "Just as it is".
A ceramic madman, oil painter and recluse, Kuroemon is as eccentric as his pottery predicts...

Here is one of the most important chawans of our collection: rounded wan shaped tea bowl with high foot of the bamboo node style in the typical O-Ido shape. The light, little coarse clay with enclosures is expertly thrown and full glazed - with the exception of the foot - with a transparent glaze of wood ash with some feldspar over a white engobe - in the style of Korean kohiki chawan (unglazed area on the outer wall is a typical feature found on many kohiki chawans)...

A massive Shigaraki Tsubo by Kanzaki Shiho enclosed in the original signed wooden box. Spectacular keshiki resulting from the combination of multiple kiln affects and textures.
