This is a very special example of Japanese Cloisonne. The workmanship and elegant form are what makes this piece so special. This vase was acquired from one of the world's greatest cloisonne collections. It measures 12 inches tall. Great overall condition but it does has a very tiny enamel flake (See last image) on the back shoulder and minor pitting. It is not signed.

Japanese Sterling Salt and Pepper Shakers, marked "Sterling" on the bottom, 1960's, 2 1/2" high, 1 3/4" wide-widest shade part, twist and open under the shade, they are in good condition.

This is a great example of Japanese Satsuma artistry. This bowl was made and signed by Hankinzan. The bowl measures 5 inches across. It is an exceptional piece with extremely fine work. There are hundreds of detailed birds all with overglaze enamels. I also believe it was made with the thicker mercury fired gold. While this bowl looks nearly perfect, it has about a 1 inch line that goes part way down one side that is very hard to see without magnification...

A finely potted large Chinese Imari three colour Charger decorated with a design of a garden with elaborate fence with Lotus finials to the posts and Mudan, flowering Peonies, Asters and various other flowers, coupled with a flowering Baicai, white cabbage (Pak Choi); traditional symbols of prosperity and wealth. The cavetto is undecorated and the rim painted with a further auspicious arabesque of entwined Peonies and Chrysanthemums, symbolising longevity and eternal youth. The reverse is pain...

Japanese Stag Horn Monkey Netsuke, 18th C. Edo period, 2 3/4" high, 1" wide, 1 1/4" deep, Monkey is holding huge Mushroom. The condition is good, old patina is lustrous.

Japanese Netsuke, Dutchman carrying Ham, carved out of Stag Antler, Ca. 18th C to 19th C. Edo period, 2 3/8" high, 3/4" wide, Dutchman wearing cute round Hat and carrying Ham holding with Bone, the condition is good, I do not see any damages, two(2) holes in the lower backside for cord go through, bottom is hollow, shows old nice patina.

An antique Japanese Matsumoto Kimono Tansu made entirely of Kirinoki (Paulownia) wood. All original hand made iron fittings including stylized Mokko handles with unusual front drawer corner decorative plates. Each side has its main swivel carrying handles where a bamboo pole slipped through and two attendants on each side would easily transport this chest. The two lower hand handles would be used to position and place the tansu. Two small drawers hide behind the hinged door...

An antique rare Japanese Ko Tansu (Personal Storage Chest) made of Kirinoki (Paulownia) and Suginoki (Cryptomeria) woods. Raden (Mother of Pearl) inlay over a burlap black Urushi lacquer foundation. A floral design showcasing a landscape scene of a full moon peeking over mystic clouds with birds in flight and in the water. A footbridge is being crossed by scholars with Wisteria above and Plum trees balancing out the design...

Japanese limited edition woodblock print by French artist Paul Jacoulet (1902-1960) titled "The Squatting Man. Chinese" (L'Homme accroupi. Chinois) published November 20, 1947. This image is illustrated on page 66 (plate 88) of “The Prints of Paul Jacoulet” by Richard Miles, 1982. It is described on page 108. This amber Raku chawan was made in late Edo Period (1800-1868). Raku pottery is traditionally used in Japanese tea ceremony since as early as the 16th century. An antique Japanese Gyosho Tansu also known as a merchant peddler's chest made entirely of Kirinoki (Paulownia) wood. Five drawers behind the hinged front door and a sixth drawer below the door. The sides have upper iron cord holding rings and cord holes at the bottom which allowed the merchant to carry this tansu on his back while transporting his wares. All original hand made iron hardware.
