A Spectacular bowl in yellow tinged fissured green glaze by Living National Treasure Shimizu Uichi enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Kiji Kanyu Chawan (Yellow-Crackle-Glazed Tea Bowl). This is a fabulous example of this important artists work. It is 12.5 cm (5 inches) diameter, 8 cm (3-1/4 inches) tall and in excellent condition.

Rustic round platter with wide rim, called ishizara in Japanese, used in kitchens and commoners’ households. Pale yellow glaze that typically leaves the foot free, turning a pale pink and then dark in the center. The plate is slightly warped, as is common with ishizara.

It is 10.25 inches (26.1 cm) tall by 3.75 inches (9.6 cm) wide. It is 1.7 Lb.

An antique Japanese Omise Tansu (merchant storage chest) made of Hinoki (Cypress) and Sugi (Cryptomeria) woods. Consisting of 15 total drawers, it was used in a merchant store setting to organize and keep inventory available for sale. Antique Japanese okimono depicting a pair of cranes on a rock. Waves wash around the rock near an ancient turtle. Made of bronze and silver with polychrome details. This sculpture is an elegant representation of the traditional longevity phrase: “cranes live for one thousand years, and turtles for ten thousand.” On the back of the rock is a large, 4-character cartouche the first part of which reads: 般若 Hannya. Today I would like to introduce another talented potter living outside of the traditional potting centers. This is a beautiful Nezumi Shino (Gray Shino) chawan by Sagae Eimei, and comes enclosed in the original signed wooden box. This has an immediacy which speaks of our era, yet is based firmly in the pottery of the Momoyama period. It is 12.5 cm (5 inches) diameter, 9.5 cm (3 inches) tall and in excellent condition.

An antique Japanese Ikebana bamboo basket in a cylindrical form mimicking a Gourd. It was woven in a vertical stitch pattern juxtapose a visually lesser diagonal weave. The artist used the thin and medium bamboo strips to contrast and undulate texture and movement within the basket. The base forms a hexagonal circle with a six point star pattern at the bottom.

The patterns drape over the rim, and rise from the base like seaweed dancing in the current below a wavy line at the shoulder, the blue glaze filled with floating paler bubbles.
