This piece was fired for 11 days with pine fire wood in anagama. Melted ashes has turned to green glass as natural glaze, it's very beautiful, And shells that was placed to avoid sticking has become to natural pattern. Seed pods cluster beneath the glimmering white flowers clinging to the silver tinged gold vines decorating the exquisite marbled grain of this large tray from Okada Yuji. The vines and leaves are in gold and silver taka-maki-e, the flowers inlaid carved and polished shell, and the beans are inlaid lead. The tray has been enhanced with wiped on lacquer accentuating the natural wood grain. Turned from a tree dried for over ten years in 1995, it was decorated by Okada in 2008...

A sample book of wa-sarasa (Japanese sarasa) with 106 fragments on 43 sheets of paper board, mostly made in Meiji period (1869～1912) and some from early Taisho period (1910s). Originally it has 45 sheets, but 2 (3rd and 20th) are lost. The dye techniques are katazome (stencil-resist-dye) and print. The book is published by Kyoto Shoin in Showa 42 (1967). The 4th among limited 60 issues. 27cm x 35cm x 5cm.

An antique Japanese Kansai Mizuya Tansu (kitchen chest) in 2 sections made of Hinoki (Cypress) and Keyaki (Zelkova) woods. All original hand forged iron hardware including the Hirute style handles. Three pairs of sliding doors of varying sizes with 8 drawers on the upper half and 5 drawers to the bottom half. There is a split level shelf behind each set of doors.

Floor cushion cover (zabuton-gawa) made of choma (ramie) whose warps and wefts are hand-plied. It has beautiful katazome (stencil-resist-dye) bamboo motif. The white ground katazome is called "Jishiro" which is rather rare than indigo ground one. It has also nice cloth with stripes for lining, whose warps are cotton and wefts are ramie. Probably made in Echigo, now Niigata prefecture. In excellent condition. The second half of the 19th century. 64cm x 68.5cm
